March recap 2024

And just like that we are recaping another month, March went by in a flash but was a lot better than the previous two, we are all finally feeling more human and have certainly taken the opportunity to make memories and enjoy the fresh air more. we started off with a trip to the town for doughnuts and ice cream, I love exploring the beach and also forget how much it clears the cobwebs away. We have also celebrated world book day, Olivia dress as Alice in wonderland and Lils was Matilda, this was Lils last one in primary which means it was probably the last one that she'll dress up. We have taken some time exploring our local beach and found some dinosaur footprints, this was so exciting to find and we are so glad that we have found them before they disappear.  We also took a trip to our local banger racing track, its was freezing but we enjoyed it and have had a lot of fun watching the racing and drama on track.  Mothers day was lovely and I got thoroughly spoilt from th

Easter basket 2024

With Easter fast approaching I thought I would share what bits the girls have in there Easter basket this year. I have created one of these every year and is full of bits and bobs to keep the girls entertained over the 2 week holiday from school/nursery. This year I actually purchased a new basket for them to have as I really couldn't resist, it's a little bunny cloth basket which was from primark and cost £4. The crafty contents are either from Morrions or The works and the sweet treats included are from Aldi. Firstly we have so Easter paper chains, something a little different and new, these were just £1 from Morrisons and whilst there I noticed little hopping animals for £1.25 each, I picked up a bunny and a chick which the girls can share. From The Works I picked up some paint your own characters which come with paint and brushes, these were £1.50 each, I also picked up a snap game for £2 and an Easter card set for £2 as well, these will definitely keep the girls happy.  La

Mothers day 2024

Mothers day is a bitter sweet one for me, having lost my Mum coming up 7 years it's always a time that hits me hard, its a time of year that get my mind going over memories with Mum and looking back on photographs. Being a Mum myself does certainly bring a little ease to the day knowing that I still have a reason to celebrate and make memories.  Also Being able to show my appreciation to both my step Mum and my mother in law makes me smile as I am so lucky to have some wonderful Mother figures in my life. My Mum wouldn't want me to feel sad or not celebrate days like this and would tell me I was being silly If I shyed away from it but in all honestly it is hard, seeing posts of there mums and what they got feels like a kick in the stomach. I hate feeling this way and always feel guilty after but in the moment I do struggle. I am lucky to have a supportive partner who knows me well enough to know how I am feeling and that I am pretty good at masking. He will be there if I need a

The Mousetrap 70th UK tour | White Rock Theatre Hastings

Three blind mice, three blind mice, see how they run..... Back in November I attended my first Who done it, The mousetrap which is the longest running play in the west end and the first non musical play that I have seen in my adult life. This was the 70th anniversary tour of the show making it that little bit more memorable.  The show is a small cast of 8 actors and is set in the 1950's. The show starts with a couple setting up there guest house for there very first visitors, who are travelling through a snowstorm. Slowly they arrive along with an extra mysterious character with a suspicious tale. News travels across the radio of a murder that has happened locally and soon the police arrive to question the guests but is the murderer amongst them? Slowly the story becomes more twisted which really makes you question every character, each played brilliantly.  The cast that I saw included two well know TV actors which was very surreal, firstly was Kathy Shipton, known for her portray

February recap | 2024

Well February went by in the blink of an eye. It started off great then went down hill pretty quickly but were are coming out the other side. We started off February with an inset day for lils so we took the opportunity to take the girls swimming, it was such a good morning. That afternoon I had my first dentist appointment in a couple of year which went OK and have since had treatment there too. We took adventures to the park for rollerblading and scattering and tried to spend some quality time. But as half term hit so did the illness, the first couple of days were OK, we managed pancake day and Valentines and I did manage to take the girls to see Bingo and Bluey but they night I felt awful, this then hit us all and the rest of the week we were all in bed with the worst cold. This then went on for me and Liam and we are only really getting better now, luckily the girls were better a lot sooner. On top of the cold ai ended up with an ear infection which has been awful and h

Currently reading | When the curtain falls

My first book of 2024 has got me hooked, theatre and ghosts all in one story. I am sadly such a slow reader but am getting through this one quicker than normal as I want to read on until I physically can't The book in question is ' When the curtain falls ' by Carrie Hope Fletcher, this is a story which tells two tales in one that intertwine. The first is of a stage hand, Walter, and an actress, Fawn, who fall in love but must not show it, their story ends in heartache and sorrow, the second is off two actors 70 years later falling in love whilst performing the same show as Fawn, the first time it has been shown since she played the part. Oscar and Olive grow close whilst performing but strange things start to happen around them. This really has had me hooked from chapter one and I have been loving the build up to it all. The chapters will bounce from present day to 1952 with ease and the more you learn the more you want to know. I would highly recommend if you l

January recap | 2024

Well that's the first month of 2024 done and it felt like it went on forever. We had a very quiet month and not the greatest but we certainly had our good days too. We stayed off our year in complete chaos as we had to move everything from our living room so our ceiling could be replaced, it was a nightmare and was so stressful but we finally have a ceiling with no hole. Lils tried her roller blades out for the first time and we tried to spend some time outside but the weather has been so cold, we finally have some better weather and I am hoping to get out more with the girls.  We did have a lovely afternoon out for Dad's birthday, we went for a roast in a lovely restaurant and enjoyed so well needed family time as Christmas and New year were a write off. Other than that it has just been school and my course which I am almost done with, just one more workbook to do and this will be complete. Roll on February, we have a few plans for this month and hopefully it has a
