May, what can I say? You were a blast and I wish we could live it over again! The month started with a trip to the travelling fun fair, the girls have never been to one before but they had an amazing time.  We also celebrated May day the only way people for our area know, with Jack in the green and the May day bike run, this honestly sets the month off in such a lovely way, everyone seems happy and its just so much fun.  Most of the month we have been finalising the plans for mine and Liams wedding, we have been crafting, organising and just generally getting ready. I took a day off work to enjoy some time with him, we had lunch together and had a mooch around our local town. The weekend before we got married I went and got my nails done, and then I got to celebrate one of my friends hen do's. We went for a bottomless brunch of pizza and prosecco, it was honestly such a blast with some amazing people.  The day before the wedding I found a baby bird which had f...

Where did May go? It has been and gone within a flash but we have managed to get so much done in just one month! May started off with the end of half term and May day, Hastings celebrates May day in a different way to many people with an event called Jack in the Green . This is a day that I really enjoy, the atmosphere and the mood is so positive and fresh and then you get the added bonus of the bike run too. Its one day that we try not to miss and Lils got to be in the parade too. We have spent lots of time enjoying the garden, cycling and getting out in the sunshine while it lasted. We have planted the sunflowers and started to grow some strawberries too. Still can't believe that we actually have a garden. The next half term was here in a flash, it started with mine and Liam's 17th anniversary, we enjoyed fish and chips on the beach with the girls and just had a really chill day. During the holidays we took a trip to the playpark with Grandad, granny and Lils cous...

Jack in the Green, an annual celebration that is held in Hastings over the first weekend of May, which then ends with a parade of music and laughter.  Jack in the green was revived in Hastings back in the 1980's and seems to grow every year with people travelling from all ove the country to take part in the May day parade. The main vibe of the event is to welcome summer and with the slaying of Jack at the end of parade releasing the spirit of summer which is certainly has this year. The offical start of the celebrations is held on May the 1st with a dance at dawn on the west hill to welcome May.  This involves dancing and singing along to drums. On Saturday there is lots to enjoy, from Morris dancing around the town, workshops to make headresses and sing a longs. Sunday is great for the family, they have more dancing around the town, a parade of giants, and the famous drum off in Butlers gap. Monday is the big one, which starts with a Morris Dancers bre...
