A pocket of my life

April is always an emotional month for me, in good and bad ways but we get through it every year and here we are, saying goodbye to April and hello to May. This month started with half term and Easter, probably one of my favourite parts of the year with baby lambs, flowers and warmer days. I am also grateful for the lighter evenings, it makes everything feel a little less heavy.  We took a trip to tibbs farm for a duck hunt , enjoyed baking and an at home Easter egg hunt, anything to keep the kids occupied when off school. I also managed to take a day for myself and see Waitress in Brighton which was incredible.  It was then back to school/work for us, its only a short term but we have so much to do, along with planning the wedding too. The first day back was the 9th anniversary of losing Mum, I always go to the crematorium with flowers and take a few minutes to remember her.  We celebrated Olivias birthday, my baby girl turned 6! Goodbye March and hello April! I have actually really enjoyed March, its been a month of sun, family time and finally leaving the house for adventures with the girls. The month started off with world book day, the girls both dress as Alice in Wonderland and I was the giraffe from The smartest giant in town. I absoloutly love days like these both as a parent and as someone who works in a school and its just a lot of fun.  We took trips to the local park, planted stuff in our garden and green house and generally enjoyed the sun when it was out, this has been something that I have been craving for a while now so I am glad that the darker, wetter days are fewer right now. We also took a trip to the beach, this one was to find some dinosaur footprints and to enjoy an iceream on the seafront, the sun was shining, the beach was beautiful and it was just a lovely afternoon out.  Mothers day followed, this was lovely but dinner didn't go to plan, Liam started cooking a love...

April has been and gone in a flash, with birthdays, Easter, half term and illness thrown into the mix. We started off the month with the last week of term, a trip to a fort for me and an Easter bonnet parade to finish the term. Half term started off amazing, Lils learnt how to ride her bike in under 30 minutes and is now flying every time she rides. Olivia has also been having fun on her bike, flying along the path down the back of ours.  But I was struck with my second lot of tonsillitis and a chest infection to contend with. Luckily with antibiotics I was better in no time.  Next was Olivias 5th birthday! How is she 5? We had a lovely chilled day, she opened her presents and then we took her swimming, had family round and enjoyed lots of cake and treats.  Easter followed just after, this year was so nice as I was actually able to set up an outdoor egg hunt, the girls loved it and it really put a smile on my face.   Every year I create an Easter basket for the girls, this usually consists of things that keep them amused and occupied during the Easster holidays and normally on theme for spring/Easter. And just like that we are recaping another month, March went by in a flash but was a lot better than the previous two, we are all finally feeling more human and have certainly taken the opportunity to make memories and enjoy the fresh air more. we started off with a trip to the town for doughnuts and ice cream, I love exploring the beach and also forget how much it clears the cobwebs away. We have also celebrated world book day, Olivia dress as Alice in wonderland and Lils was Matilda, this was Lils last one in primary which means it was probably the last one that she'll dress up. With Easter fast approaching I thought I would share what bits the girls have in there Easter basket this year. I have created one of these every year and is full of bits and bobs to keep the girls entertained over the 2 week holiday from school/nursery. This year I actually purchased a new basket for them to have as I really couldn't resist, it's a little bunny cloth basket which was from primark and cost £4. The crafty contents are either from Morrions or The works and the sweet treats included are from Aldi. Firstly we have so Easter paper chains, something a little different and new, these were just £1 from Morrisons and whilst there I noticed little hopping animals for £1.25 each, I picked up a bunny and a chick which the girls can share. From The Works I picked up some paint your own characters which come with paint and brushes, these were £1.50 each, I also picked up a snap game for £2 and an Easter card set for £2 as well, these will definitely keep the girls happy.  La...

We are finally in the Easter holidays so I am prepping the girls annual Easter basket, I try to get bits that will keep them occupied when we have a wet day or if we have no plans. I have a mixture of items from The works, Poundland and Aldi too. I found that The Works didn't have a great deal of crafty bits this year but picked up some Easter themed games instead, I picked up  Bunny ring toss  which includes an inflatable bunny and 4 rings to throw over the ears, Easter bingo which I thought would be a good one for me and Lils this year and Easter magnets to colour in, these aren't all Easter as such and thought the girls would enjoy. I picked up some plaster Easter characters to paint from Poundland, this is something I pick up every year and we have many from the previous years that we decorate the house with.  Lastly were some sweet treats from Aldi, I picked up a chocolate gonk each, these sounds funny and were 59p and I have also grabbed two bags of crea...

Easter is fast approaching and I am so excited, especially because Olivia's birthday falls in the middle of it all too. Every year I create an Easter basket for my girls with bits to keep them amused over the Easter holidays and a few yummy treats too.
