A pocket of my life

Wow! What a crazy full on month again and one that will stay with me forever. The month started off with our second house move of the year, it has been so stressful and crazy but we are in and the keys are handed back for the other house now so onwards and upwards.  Most of the month has been working, unpacking and Sorting and just being Mum but I have had a few days which have been incredible.  This month I got to attend an event and meet the wonderful Axel Scheffler, the illistrator of the Gruffalo, stickman and many more. He was lovely and we managed to get a book signed by him. I also got to meet Thomas Taylor, an author and illistrator who actually created the first cover for the Harry Potter books. It was such a lovely couple of hours and one I won't forget in a rush. This month has been CRAZY and one that I won't forget! It involved making so many memories and so many smiles! We started our month off with an impromptu car show that we found on a shopping trip, the girls loved it and the cars were so cute too. We also attend pur first and second bonfire this month with Hastings at the beginning and Staplecross one at the end. I love bonfire night as it makes me feel so cosy and happy.  The best day that we had was seeing Mcfly for the first time at the o2 arena, we managed to get tickets for their 21st birthday party concert and I honestly had the best night. Me and Lils were singing along and dancing and having the time of our life.  A couple of day trips included scotney castle and lime tree farm. Scotney castle is a beautiful place owned by the National trust and has some lovely grounds for the girls to explore. Yesterday we took a trip to Lime tree farm in Brookland, this is around a half an hour drive from us but it was well worth the trip.  This is a small family farm which has created a beautiful area to pick some pumpkins with the family and get some cure photos too. They have set up some lovely displays to get some cute pics and have so many pumpkins around for you to pick from. The field is quite small but they have managed to fit a lot not making it too cramped. The display that made us laugh was the tractor with the skeleton as a driver.  The farm had a wide array of pumpkin from blue pumpkins to odd shaped double coloured ones and all so reasonably priced too. We decided to pick some odd pumpkins at just £1 each, Lils got one that looked like a mushroom and Olivias one is covered it little bobbles. The prices started at £1 for the small up to £4 for large pumpkins.  Lime tree farm create this display to raise money for charity by accepting donations to Pilgrims Hospices...

Goodbye October, who have been fun (mostly), this month has been full of making memories and enjoying the better weather before winter rears it's head. We started off slow with a few park trips and dress up at school, a slow start was honestly what we needed after last month. We did have so car troubles later in the month but luckily nothing Liam couldn't fix.  We have had some lovely days out including a lovely trip to  Bodiam Castle  it was so nice to explore and enjoy the seasonal quest they had.  We also got around to decorating the girls bedrooms, a feature wall of sage green with the rest being white, they also have personalised LED lights for above there beds. Lastly comes Halloween, both my girls love it with the  Boo basket , trick or treating and dressing up too, we firstly did a hint in our local shopping centre with Lils being Wednesday and Olivia as a gothic bride. Today I have a simple and fun Halloween sensory play for you little ones to enjoy, it involves rice, paint and some seasonal items. To start off you need some uncooked rice and paint in the colours of your choice, we went for orange and black. Mix the rice with a bit of your paint until covered, then smooth out and let it dry on some foil, it only takes around 30 minutes for this to happen.  I have mixed my colours together once dry and poured into a tray then added some mini Halloween decorations, a spoon and a small pot for her to interact with. It is so simple to set up and tidy up to and Olivia loved playing with it. This kind of play promotes colours, texture, hand eye co-ordination and fine motor skills and can be adapted to different seasons or celebrations for some extra fun.  I would highly recommend trying this out with your little ones, its kept Olivia amused for a good half an hour and was a great way to what her interact in different ways. ...

Every year I create a little treat basket for Halloween mainly containing bits to keep them occupied over the Half term. It get the kids excited and always puts a smile on there faces. I wanted to share what I have got this year for the girls in hope that it might give someone so ideas for there little ones if they want to create one.  First we love a good good book and this year we have two, I purchased one and the other was a gift from my Dad and Angie. This years book choices are Peppa's Magical Halloween and Spinderella . The next couple of bits are a create your own which I love to get for the kids, I did leave it a little late this year so had to shop around. The little cat tea light is from Poundland and the decorate you own mug was from The Works. I love getting these out every year and it's nice to add to our collections. I then picked up a Halloween ghost poppet for Lils and a bat light up toy for Olivia from Poundland as a little treat. Lastl...

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Sharnfold farm for some Halloween fun and it did not dissapoint. This year we took part in the Halloween trail which gets better with every visit with more to see and more effort put in every year, the only downside this year was the PYO field was closed due to the weather. We arrived the the farm about 11.45 and went into collect our wrist bands, we had prebooked but the tickets cost £5.95 for children over 4 and £4.95 for adults. There is a prize at the end of the trail to collect from the main office.  On arrival we could see some Halloween decorations already which certainly gets the kids excited, you firstly enter a play park which seems to grow every years, there is a tractor for the children to climb over, a sandpit, some ride on toys, a traditional slide and swing and there is also a wild part with bits to learn about wild life and more.  Once you enter the main part you are greeted by your first animals, this year it was some adora...

Well, I am wiped out after a busy Halloween, two lots of Trick or Treating and a Halloween party to boot.    I love traditions and making memories with Lil's that I didn't experience as a child, not because I wasn't allowed but because my parents are/were of the older generation and it wasn't really a thing within there childhood. I feel as if Halloween has grown so much in the past few years and I love getting Lil's involved. This year she requested to be a skeleton, the outfit was from Aldi and was so inexpensive at just £4.99. We do the usual pumpkin carving, we also decorate biscuits and do creepy crafts then end the day with a Halloween inspired meal before heading out for our Trick or Treating.  What do you feel about Halloween? and so you have an traditions that you and your family partake in annually?
