August recap | 2026

It felt like August went by in a blur and here are thr 'ber' months. We started our month with such a lovely afternoon, it was a unique event involving Lils and Olis favourite teddies, a teddy adventure where their teddies could experience zip lines, ski slope and other things.  Lilly started to practice her guitar more, learning the into to one of her favourite songs, whilst Olivia has enjoyed watching the trains from the bridge and waving at the driver's  We then visited Hastings carnival, my Dad and Angie had created a float for it and we went to support them whilst also enjoying all the other floats too, it was very warm though. Dad and Angie got first and came home with a trophy.  The partial eclipse was something that we all enjoyed together, I was actually organised and ordered some glasses the week before, it was a lovely experience and felt very privileged that we got to enjoy it with no cloud cover.  Are you a summer person - No way! I am more of an Autumn lover, I find heat really hard to deal with and much prefer the weather in the 'ber' months. What is your favorite thing about the summer? - The time with the children, I know some parents don't enjoy but I really try to take the time to be with the children and make memories with them. Do you stay indoors or outdoors more in the summer? I am more of an indoor/home girly, just because I don't so heat. We love the garden in the shade and taking trips to the park/beach in the evenings. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I love a mint choc chip with a flake in the top. What is your favorite summer clothing? a nice flowy dress, normally below the knees or my short pjs for home.  What do you like most about the beach? Summer holidays | Activities that won't break the bank

With the summer holidays fast approaching I am trying to think of ways to keep the kids entertained that don't break the bank. Its so hard to find different things to do but I have managed to come up with some activities that are either free or cheap that I have put into an envelope for the kids to pull out, I wanted to share these ideas with you in hope that they will help you too. If any other items are required for the activity I have written in below or linked it.  Painting secret stones and hiding them  Baking some tasty treats Slime baff or gelli baff  from zimpli kids Film night with popcorn and sweets Beach day if you have one close LEGO afternoon Park and ice creams Go to the penny arcades (£5 each) Make a den.
