January recap | 2026

Image
January has felt like a slog and what a miserable one for the weather too. I am definitely ready for February and the lighter mornings and evenings.  We have had a very quiet month, not a lot happening really, we just tried to make the most of the time and have tried to get jobs done that we can.  We started off with a little bit of excitement with a dusting of snow, and I mean a dusting. Our town never seems to enjoy the large amounts of snow but I am glad that we got some for the girls to throw some snowballs.  The next week was back to work and school, I struggled with this a little as I felt the Christmas holidays went so fast but we are fully back into the flow of it all now.  The next couple of weeks have been full of organising the house and starting to work on the garden too, making it ready for summer so we can take full advantage of it. All in all ita been a slow month but its been needed, I just wish the weather had been brighter and less wet. ...

January recap | 2025

January has been a long one and I am glad that it's over, it's not been a bad one, don't get me wrong but I always find January a hard one, emotionally  The month started off with a spot of gardening, we finally managed to get out in the cold but dry days and clear a bit, I spent a good few hours clearing out the back which was hiding a beautiful stream behind.  It was then back to school and work, back to normality and I was not ready for it, it was definitely a shock to the system. Olivia has been doing amazing with her reading and even got herself the reading certificate at school. Lils has been hard at school getting life done and being a typical preteen experimenting with make up and gossiping with her friends, I really wish time would slow down.  This mone has been a cold one with many a frosty morning,  it looks beautiful but is such a pain to sort the car when leaving for work. I must admit I have taken a fair few pictures of the beautiful scene o...

January recap | 2024

Well that's the first month of 2024 done and it felt like it went on forever. We had a very quiet month and not the greatest but we certainly had our good days too. We stayed off our year in complete chaos as we had to move everything from our living room so our ceiling could be replaced, it was a nightmare and was so stressful but we finally have a ceiling with no hole. Lils tried her roller blades out for the first time and we tried to spend some time outside but the weather has been so cold, we finally have some better weather and I am hoping to get out more with the girls.  We did have a lovely afternoon out for Dad's birthday, we went for a roast in a lovely restaurant and enjoyed so well needed family time as Christmas and New year were a write off. Other than that it has just been school and my course which I am almost done with, just one more workbook to do and this will be complete. Roll on February, we have a few plans for this month and hopefully it has a...

January recap | 2023

Image
We have come to the end of January and I thought that I would do a monthly recap, a way to look back and remember how it was. January really hasn't been the kindest to us with illness including 2 lots of antibiotics, a punctured tyre and a small hospital stay for my Dad (he's home now). I feel like we need a break from it all and I hope that February is better in many ways. Some of the more positive things are that I made butter from scratch with some reduced cream. It was surprising tasty and easy to make too. Lilly has received her bronze star for 75 dojo's at school, she has been working so hard towards it and we are so proud of her. Olivia is making great progress with her potty training which is amazing.  I am going into February with a positive mindset and the hope for health for me, I hope to get out more with the girls now that I am feeling better, to try new recipes and to take everything with a pinch of salt. Hello 2023!

Image
Hello and a very Happy New Year, I hope that your Christmas and New year were magical, sadly I was poorly but am getting there. My blogmas really didn't go to plan as I haven't been 100% for weeks now but I am better....ish and back. This year I hope to make the best memories with my girls, to try new recipes, to be a better, happier person and to build my blog and YouTube channel to what I want them to be. I don't make resolutions anymore as I always have a pressure that I have to do them and if it goes wrong I feel guilty for it. New years eve for us was quiet, I made some homemade sausage rolls and mince pies, played the switch with Lils and chilled on the sofa, we saw the new year in with Sam Ryder and the amazing London fire works and drones on BBC. The best way, with family around and good food. I know this was a short post but I just wanted yo wish everyone the best in 2023. What are your plans for 2023? Do you have any holidays or days out planned?  Victoria
