Sensory play | Halloween rice tray

Today I have a simple and fun Halloween sensory play for you little ones to enjoy, it involves rice, paint and some seasonal items. To start off you need some uncooked rice and paint in the colours of your choice, we went for orange and black. Mix the rice with a bit of your paint until covered, then smooth out and let it dry on some foil, it only takes around 30 minutes for this to happen.  I have mixed my colours together once dry and poured into a tray then added some mini Halloween decorations, a spoon and a small pot for her to interact with. It is so simple to set up and tidy up to and Olivia loved playing with it. This kind of play promotes colours, texture, hand eye co-ordination and fine motor skills and can be adapted to different seasons or celebrations for some extra fun.  I would highly recommend trying this out with your little ones, its kept Olivia amused for a good half an hour and was a great way to what her interact in different ways. If you ha

Scotney Castle | Scotney School of Sorcery

Yesterday we took a trip to Scotney Castle for a Halloween adventure we had a voucher for a family pass and thought that this was the perfect time to take the opportunity to have some family fun.  At Scotney castle they are running half term fun in the form of Scotney school of Sorcery, during your visit you will need to find words that are part of a spell and at the end if you need to use the spell and see its it's correct. This has a small charge of £3 for you spell sheet and a prize at the end of an insect gummy. The do encourage dress up too for this event. They have decorated the grounds, castle and house beautifully with pumpkins everywhere and the clues were very spooky and made the day extra fun. The grounds look beautiful right now with the autumn colours everywhere and leaves pathing the grass. The grounds are suitable for wheel and buggy but it does have so steep slopes. We headed down to the old caste first which is part ruin, part house which is surrounded

Sharnfold Farm | Halloween Trail

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Sharnfold farm for some Halloween fun and it did not dissapoint. This year we took part in the Halloween trail which gets better with every visit with more to see and more effort put in every year, the only downside this year was the PYO field was closed due to the weather. We arrived the the farm about 11.45 and went into collect our wrist bands, we had prebooked but the tickets cost £5.95 for children over 4 and £4.95 for adults. There is a prize at the end of the trail to collect from the main office.  On arrival we could see some Halloween decorations already which certainly gets the kids excited, you firstly enter a play park which seems to grow every years, there is a tractor for the children to climb over, a sandpit, some ride on toys, a traditional slide and swing and there is also a wild part with bits to learn about wild life and more.  Once you enter the main part you are greeted by your first animals, this year it was some adorable pigle

Changing it up with Zinff glasses #AdGifted

A few months back I was kindly gifted some glasses from Zinff which are an online shop for glasses for both prescription glasses and non prescription. I have worn glasses for as long as I can remember and have always played it safe when choosing a style so when I was invited to try a pair I went for something that I would not normally go for. I decided to go for the Zoey frames which are a large square style that are pink tinted, these retail at $32 for the frames, you can then add the details of you prescription and add different options for your lenses such as blue light blocking and making the lenses at a small extra cost.  The company were great from the start and my glasses were delivered within 2 weeks of ordering them, they come with a cardboard box style case and a lens cloth too. The glasses are comfy and feel very well made. They also do luckily suit me and I like to have the option of a different look when I feel like it. If you are interested in looking

Halloween books we love | Toddler edition

With Halloween just around the corner I have dug out some of our favourite books for the spooky season, these books are aimed at the younger age but are still loved by my elder daughter too. I love hunting down new books for the season and normally add a new one to the Halloween basket for them to enjoy.  Where's Mrs Witch - Ingela P Arrhenius This story is about finding different Halloween characters under felt flaps, and ends with a fun mirror for your little ones to engage in. The book is aimed at 2-6 year olds and is a fun edition to our Halloween collection. 10 Trick-or-Treaters  - Janet Schulman & Linda Davick This is Olivia's favourite story and is about 10 children who are out trick or treating, one by one the children get scared and the number decreases, it is a great way to start teaching counting to your little ones. The book is aimed at 3-7 years.  Spinderella  - Julia Donaldson & Sebastian Braun This one is a new edition to our collection but w

Bee Kind jewellery #AdGifted

I was recently contacted by a company that really caught my eye and I really wanted to share them with you all, they are Bee Kind which was created with a mission to help protect bee colonies around the world. I believe that this is an amazing task to take on and I'm very grateful to them for sharing a few items with me to show you there beautiful products.  A percentage of every purchase goes towards developing bee colonies. Firstly can we appreciate the packaging, all packaging is eco-friendly and all looks very pretty when it arrives with little sunflowers on each item just giving it that little extra touch which puts a smile on your face.  Firstly I picked these little baby bee stud earrings which are handmade out of 925 sterling silver with gold plating, these really caught my eye and I felt that they represented the mission so beautifully. They are very delicate looking and look so pretty on. There is also a matching necklace which is equal
