June recap | 2023

June has been a busy month but one that has been good 90% of the time, its been a hot one and if you read my last blog post you will know that it doesn't help my  Mental health  at all, its been a bit tough for that reason but luckily it has cooled for the moment. Lilly has had a busy month starting off with a cinema trip with her guide group to go and see the new Little Mermaid, she absolutely loved it and can't wait to watch it again. She has had two visits from the tooth fairy this one, for some of the larger teeth at the back, she is honestly growing too fast. Lastly Lilly made me and her Dad so proud when she competed in town sports today and went on to win two 2nd place medals for discus and 60m sprint.  Olivia has also had a big month starting off with water fights with her big sister and finally getting fully back into nursery with the confidence she had a few month back ( she became scared of nursery back in late April). Olivia has also made a huge leap in

My mental health

I wanted to write a little update on my mental health as im struggling slightly right now. This time of year for me is a nightmare, mainly when it's hot (above 25°c), my anxiety goes through the roof and I struggle to control it. My main part of my anxiety is a fear of death, it's horrible to have and hard to explain to people sometimes, but with the hot weather comes the irrational fear that the UK will get to hot for us to cope with because of global warming.  I know that global warming is real and that its happening but my head is saying that it is going to happen tomorrow. This is what gives me the fear that one day I won't be able to cope with the heat at all.  I have actually looked into this and apparently your anxiety can be heightened because of the heat which causes changed in the body, its knows at heat anxiety and I didn't know that that was a thing until today. I know that I am not alone with my anxiety and I know that sometimes it sounds so sil

Cool Summer Outfit

The UK is currently going through the first heatwave of 2023 and when we say heatwaves we mean muggy, sticky hot weather. This year I am jumping out of my comfort zone and showing off my legs and trying something a little different. I wanted so share this outfit idea for you all as its easy to throw on and keeps you cool. I wore this green play suit/romper from shein, i am absolutely in love the way it looked and felt wearing it. I paired with a pair of white sliders from primark. I felt that this play suit is very flattering with the way it sits and the belt to sinch it in a little at the waist. Sadly shein don't sell this exact play suit but I have linked 2 below that are very similar if you are interested and have also linked the sliders that I have paired with the outfit, for reference I am a size 14 in most of my clothes and this fit so well. Green play suit - no belt Green play suit - with belt White sliders I hope this might have given you some outfit inspiration

Rocky Road recipe

Rocky roads are one of my favourite sweet treats to enjoy and they are so easy to make too. These are normally a good weekend bake with the kids as they can have lots of fun with the crushing and mixing. Rocky roads are also a great way of using bits up in the cupboard that sometimes get left such a dried fruit or nuts. Below is the recipe that we like to use and we always add some sort of fruit, I prefer to use glace cherries though. Recipe: 200g rich tea / digestive biscuits 135g butter 200g dark chocolate 2-3 tbsp golden syrup 100g mini marshmallows optional extras - up to 100g Dried fruit nuts glace cherries Method: 1. melt the chocolate, butter and golden syrup together in a bowl over hot water (Bain marie) 2. break your biscuits up with the largest pieces being not bigger than a 10p 3. Add your dried fruit and extra and mix well 4. allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly before combing all your ingredients 5. smooth your mixture out in a lined tin and allow to se

Toddler quirks #2

I'm back with some more of the little things that make Olivia unique, things that make us smile and things that one day might not be apparent any more. 1. I love you back - this is very new and we're not quite sure where its come from but after saying love you she then says love you back and you have to say it back, she love it. 2. Calling Bees buzz - Olivia has a different names for bees, she calls them buzzes. I can see why and its very cute and I kind of hope that she doesn't grow out of it. 3. Following Daddy mowing - This is something that Olivia loves to do, she follows Daddy up and down the garden when he mows the grass and Nannies with her mini mower and copies every move.  4. Smoothie juice - every time she visits either Nanny or Granny and Grandads she knows that she normally has the mini smoothies in there fridge waiting for her and pretty much asks the moment she arrives. I love documenting these little things and I hope that you enjoy reading about
