Goodbye March and hello April!

I have actually really enjoyed March, its been a month of sun, family time and finally leaving the house for adventures with the girls.

The month started off with world book day, the girls both dress as Alice in Wonderland and I was the giraffe from The smartest giant in town. I absoloutly love days like these both as a parent and as someone who works in a school and its just a lot of fun. 

We took trips to the local park, planted stuff in our garden and green house and generally enjoyed the sun when it was out, this has been something that I have been craving for a while now so I am glad that the darker, wetter days are fewer right now. We also took a trip to the beach, this one was to find some dinosaur footprints and to enjoy an iceream on the seafront, the sun was shining, the beach was beautiful and it was just a lovely afternoon out. 

Mothers day followed, this was lovely but dinner didn't go to plan, Liam started cooking a lovely meal but the potatoes were all rotten so we ended up with a take away. The girls spoilt me with some lovely gifts and Olivia must of said Happy Mothers day a million times. 

The end of the month has brought Liams birthday and finally half term, I am so happy that we got there as have been fighting an illness for the past 2 weeks which i hope will ease with some rest. We finished the last school day with an Easter egg hunt for the staff, I absoloutly loved this and we all had a right laugh.

I hope March has been kind and April is even kinder.

Cottage pie recipe

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. I thought I would share our recipe with you which can easily be adapted if need be. Recipe 500g Beef Mince 1 carton of tomato passata  1 tbs tomato paste 1 beef stock cube 1 beef stock pot 1 tsp onion salt 1 tsp garlic granules 1 tsp mixed herbs 2 medium carrots sliced and part cooked Salt and pepper 3 large potatoes for mash 75g cheese Method 1. Shows that I have seen

I have loved anything to do with theatre for as long as I can remember, being part of an amauter dramatic group from the age of 4.  I have also seen a fair few shows over my years and I certainly intend to add many more to this list over time. This will be a blog post that will change with every future show that we watch. I find theatre such a world away from the worries for a while, you delve into someone elses story. The Dinosaur that Pooped: a rock show | White Rock Theatre Hastings

Dinosaur, poop and a whole lot of laughs! Danny and dino want to see there favourite band perform but dino is hungry, along the way he munches on lots of things and makes Danny sad, is there a way that dino can save the day? Olivia has been a fan of these books for years and I must say they do make me and Liam laugh too, but when I booked this last year I was unsure of how this would be, and how they would bring the dino to life. But after watching this show I can say that me and Olivia thoroughly enjoyed it. There are four cast members, two being Danny and Dino and the other two playing multiple characters through the show, and doing a great job of that too. The music is cheesy but fun and catchty and some small hints to Mcfly too, which certainly put a smile on my face.  The scenery was simple yet effective with one main prop on stage that was usedin many different ways by turning the prop around or opening different parts to create a different space.
