Summer Tag | 2026

  1.  Are you a summer person - No way! I am more of an Autumn lover, I find heat really hard to deal with and much prefer the weather in the 'ber' months.
  2. What is your favorite thing about the summer? - The time with the children, I know some parents don't enjoy but I really try to take the time to be with the children and make memories with them.
  3. Do you stay indoors or outdoors more in the summer? I am more of an indoor/home girly, just because I don't so heat. We love the garden in the shade and taking trips to the park/beach in the evenings.
  4. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I love a mint choc chip with a flake in the top.
  5. What is your favorite summer clothing? a nice flowy dress, normally below the knees or my short pjs for home. 
  6. What do you like most about the beach? We love to go rockpooling and paddling in the sea too.
  7. Favorite summer time movie? Mama Mia is perfect for a summers evening or maybe Grease along with High school musical 2.
  8. What is your favorite summertime restaurant? a fish and chip shop near the beach or a nice italian place that does pasta. 
  9. What is your best summertime memory? This is a hard one because there are so many but I have really enjoyed the camping trips that we have taken over the years and really want to start doing that again with Olivia in tow. 
  10. What annoys you most about the summer? The heat, as I said above I really struggle with the heat and quite often end up feeling unwell no matter how much I drink and try to stay cool. 
  11. Do you spend more money during the summer? Normally yes! Having the kid off school does not help with that, with days out, snacks and school uniform buying too.
  12. Where would you go for your dream summer vacation? I love love to go to Greece or back to Malta again.

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. I thought I would share our recipe with you which can easily be adapted if need be. Wow! What a crazy full on month again and one that will stay with me forever. The month started off with our second house move of the year, it has been so stressful and crazy but we are in and the keys are handed back for the other house now so onwards and upwards.  Most of the month has been working, unpacking and Sorting and just being Mum but I have had a few days which have been incredible.  This month I got to attend an event and meet the wonderful Axel Scheffler, the illistrator of the Gruffalo, stickman and many more. He was lovely and we managed to get a book signed by him. I also got to meet Thomas Taylor, an author and illistrator who actually created the first cover for the Harry Potter books. It was such a lovely couple of hours and one I won't forget in a rush. Toad in the hole recipe

Toad in the hole is one of our favourite meals to have, especially in the colder months with a huge pile of mash, veg and gravy. We love to change this recipe up a little with just 2 different herbs, Onion granules and sage. Toad in the hole is a classic English dish, its great any time of the week and really doesn't take too much effort for a great homely meal. This recipe is also suitable for vegetarians with the change to a meat free sausage.  Recipe 4 - 6 Sausages of your choice 1-2 tbsp oil 140g plain flour 2 eggs 175ml semi skimmed milk 1 tsp sage 1 tsp onion granules salt and pepper Method 1. Heat your oven to 220oC/ gas mark 7 and place sausages in a roasting tin with oil, bake for 15 mins. 2. Meanwhile mix the flour and eggs together, slowly add the milk and herbs in. 3. Leave to stand until the sausages are starting to brown 4. Pour the batter into the tin and bake on the top shelf for 25 to 30 minutes. 5.
