Meet Snowy | We adopted a guinea pig

A few weeks ago our family grew, just a little bit, meet Snowy, a long haired white guinea pig. 

During the last half term we attended a pet pals workshop at pets a home, an event in which you can learn about small anmials and have a cuddle. During this time we met Snowy, a 9 month old cutie who was on his own and we fell in love. Fast forward 2 hours and we were back picking him up to bring home.

I do understand that guinea pigs love friends and we will be hopefully finding him one in the near future once we have had him done. We want to give him a happy home and a happy life so we are doing everything in the way that we have been advised from pets at home themselves.


He is a very cheeky thing, he loves going out in his run and loves a bit of carrot and cucumber, he loves a cuddle and is very chilled too. I still can't quite believe the story of how we came to get him but it will be one that hopefully the kids will remember forever and put a smile on their faces.

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. Burger seasoning recipe

With the weather warming up and the BBQ season well on its way, I wanted to share a recipe with you that is a firm favourite in our house, this recipe will help elevate you BBQ tastes with the yummiest burgers that have so much flavour.  Its such a simple seasoning to make and one that you will be able to store for future use too. 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Freshly ground black pepper 1 tbsp Paprika 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Onion powder 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper We add these herbs and spices into a pestel and mortar and given them a good mix together. When the time comes to make these tasty burgers just grab some 5%  mince and shape into burgers, we now have a burger press to make them more even, then when cooking sprinkle some of the seasoning onto the top side of the burger and flip, then repeat till both sides are covered evenly.  The summer holidays can be scary for some parents knowing that there budget doesn't stretch far, I try to keep to a strict budget so we don't go beyond our means, this means that some days are in with free activites and crafts. So here are some free/cheap ideas to keep you and the kids entertained over the holidays. Rock painting and hiding Lego building Pet pals workshop (Pets at home) Den making Baking ( Cookies , Cupcakes ) Cinema (kids club) National trust (vouchers are very useful) Beach/park  Summer reading challenge (local libraries) Scavenger hunt / nature hunt These are just a few things that we get up to in the summer holidays.
