Halloween stories we love

Image
With Halloween being just days away I wanted to share a few of our favourite seasonal books with you. In the new house with have this beautiful sheflf built into the wall and the moment I saw it I new I had to use it to display these books and future seasonal books too. Room on the broom  - An absoloutle classic in my eyes and one that we do read throughout the year as we all love it so much. The dinosaur that pooped Halloween  - This is another story that is always in our book baskets that we have as Olivia loves the dinosaur that pooped series. Where's Mrs Witch  - This one one that may be retiring this year as Olivia is slowly avoiding this more and more but I no and certain someone who will benefit from it.  Were going on a pumpkin hunt  - A story that has been adapted from a well known story meaning that we both love this, we both make the noises whilst reading it.  Little Miss Sunshine and the wicked witch  - We have had this story for a while an...

Halloween Boo basket 2025

Image
Every year I create a boo basket for my girls, it's nothing special or elaborate but my girls absoloutly love this. I try to make all the seasons speical and magical and try to create memories in any way I can. This boo basket contains some crafts including paint your own sun catchers and candy skull statues, and a sticker book, some sweet treats including chocolate pumpkins and decorate you own gingerbread skulls, two pumpkin face maskes and a bluey (booey) character to add to the set that we have. I try to find things that will keep them busy over the half term and gives them something to do on a cold or rainy day.  This basket proboable set me back around £15 max and sometimes I ended up gettting a few bits in the sale after Halloween just after the previous Halloween.  Victoria x

What's in my Triyit box #4

Image
We have recently been picked for another Triyit box to review, this a a company that send boxes with items to sample that are tailored to your family and needs. This particular box had something for all the family to enjoy, exept for Snowy . In the box we had 7 different items to try. Blink cat meat (Chicken) - This is a brand that we have tried before and one that we know our cat enjoys, this is a natural food selection with no grains involved meaning easy digestion for your cats. Blink dry cat food (Chicken) - We have never actually tried the dry cat food before and our cat is fussy with this but he did give it a try and seemed to enjoy this one. Archers and lemonade can - This is a brad that I was aware of but have never actually tried before, I am definetly sold on this one.  Untamed Naturalicks (Chicken) - I have never actually heard of this brand before but I can confirm that our cat really enjoyed these natural licky treats. Menabrea larger can - Liam enjoyed this one...

Wave of light | Miscarriage awareness | Trigger warning

Image
So today is the wave of light for all the babies that have left us.  This is a very sensitive subject for us, my Mum lost two beautiful children, my sister, Joanne was just 3 days old and my brother, John was a stillborn. My story starts in the summer of 2011, I found out that I was expecting our first baby early in the July. Both me and Liam were made up with the idea of having a little boy or girl running around. We told my parents and Liams Mum that we were expecting and I also had an appointment with a midwife at around 5 weeks, it was all so exciting and it felt perfect until 5 weeks and 5 days hit. It was that day that I knew something had changed, I started to spot and my nausea that I had been experiencing had become non existent. I did the Google my symptoms thing and saw the word miscarriage, I was heartbroken but obviously nothing was confirmed at this point.  We phoned the EPU (Early Pregnancy unit) and they gave me an appointment for a scan and blood t...

We're moving (again)

Image
This is a post that I didn't think I would be writing this soon but yes, we are moving, again!  Circumstances have changed in the past couple of months which has meant that we have had to look for somewhere else to live, this has been a very stressful, crazy time but it is coming to an end. On Monday last week we signed the papers and got the keys to our new home! My emotions have been through the roof, from frustation and anger at the situation, excitment and nervousness about moving but sad about leaving this house as we have started to really make it feel homely.  The past week Liam has been working his socks off decorating the place and making it homely, with me helping over the weekend. The next week or so will be Liam finishing the decoating and us finishing packing up the house before our move at the weekend then to unpack it all in the new house and get that sorted as soon as possible.  Lets hope this is our home for longer than the one we ...

September recap | 2025

Image
September was a busy, crazy month and one we certainly won't forget, with a theatre trip, a concert, birthdays and drifting taking up life along with work we are happy for a calmer start to the next month. The month started with back to work, 2 inset days for me and then back in to the full swing of school runs and clubs. Its been a busy and tiring first term but we are surviving.  I turned 34 at the end of the first week, I felt loved and got treated both at work and home. I didn't do too much for my birthday, Dad and Angie came round to see me, Liam cooked a meal I asked for and had cake and wine! It was perfect. A week later it was Lilly's turn to have a birthday, she turned 13! I officially have a teenager which is crazy. For her birthday we planned for her to have a trip to the theatre to see  SIX  in Brighton, she has wanted to go back for a while and I managed to get tickets for the actual day and surprised her with it with a ticket and stickers for our...
