4 Simple elf of the shelf ideas | Blogmas day 5

This year I have really struggled to find new ideas for the elf and Olivia is fully invested this year. She has been making it her missions to find Ellie every morning before school. 

1. Toilet roll snow man - This one is a simple one to do, I used an eye liner for the coal parts (eyes, smile and buttons) then a light red lipstick for the carrot. 2 rolls for the bottom part fits the elf perfectly and slot one on the head to finish the look.

2. Dad's fart - This was one that made Olivia laugh, she was able to read the note this year. We hide the elf in a pint class with her hand over her nose, a note explaining why and a can of air freshener on the side too. Such a quick one to do.

3. All toasty warm - Perfect for a frosty cold night, one slice of toast with some arm and leg holes cut out to make a blanket. I used an apple cover to cut these out as it seems to be the perfect size for that. Another small note from the elf too to finish the look.

4. Poo on the mirror - Olivia loves the dinosaur that pooped series so I thought this one would make her smile. I used chocolate spread to write poo on the mirror and slipped the elf by the side of the mirror. 

I really enjoy creating these illusions every year, it just adds a little bit of extra magic. I hope this helps you out.

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. Burger seasoning recipe

With the weather warming up and the BBQ season well on its way, I wanted to share a recipe with you that is a firm favourite in our house, this recipe will help elevate you BBQ tastes with the yummiest burgers that have so much flavour.  Its such a simple seasoning to make and one that you will be able to store for future use too. 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Freshly ground black pepper 1 tbsp Paprika 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Onion powder 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper We add these herbs and spices into a pestel and mortar and given them a good mix together. When the time comes to make these tasty burgers just grab some 5%  mince and shape into burgers, we now have a burger press to make them more even, then when cooking sprinkle some of the seasoning onto the top side of the burger and flip, then repeat till both sides are covered evenly. Summer holidays on a budget | 10 ideas

 The summer holidays can be scary for some parents knowing that there budget doesn't stretch far, I try to keep to a strict budget so we don't go beyond our means, this means that some days are in with free activites and crafts. So here are some free/cheap ideas to keep you and the kids entertained over the holidays. Rock painting and hiding Lego building Pet pals workshop (Pets at home) Den making Baking ( Cookies , Cupcakes ) Cinema (kids club) National trust (vouchers are very useful) Beach/park  Summer reading challenge (local libraries) Scavenger hunt / nature hunt These are just a few things that we get up to in the summer holidays. I normally put these and more in an envelope and get the girls to pick something out when the day is slow or there bored. I really hope these help and would love to hear what you get up to as well.
