Our little Minimoon

 

We recently took a romantic getaway to celebrate our minimoon in a beautiful shepards hut just outside of Rye, East Sussex. We wanted somewhere not too far from home but far enough to experience the peace and quiet. 

The hut that we stayed in is part of extraordinary huts, a group of huts at the edge of a farm, each with its own character and view to enjoy. We picked 'The Hive', a little hut with everything that you need, it has a living area and kitchen, with sink, fridge and gas hob, a shower and toilet down stairs. Upstairs has a seating area with a table and a bedroom, you do have to crawl around upstairs but that definitly added to the character of the place and gave us a giggle. The bed was comfy and clean and the view from the bed was stunning. 

The centrepiece of the hut was the beautiful green spiral staircase to take you to your bedroom, it gave the whole thing a rustic feel and made it feel all the more cosy. Outside you have a decked area looking out onto the farm behind, then further down there is a fire pit/BBQ and seating area to enjoy the peace of nature. The only electric parts are the lights in the hut and 2 usb charger ports from phones, this was actually lovely as we didn't have any other distractions and got to really enjoy the location.

During the evening we took a trip into Rye for dinner and a stroll. I was hoping to get a milkshake from knoop but sadly the milkshake machine was broken, we did find a place where I had a very tasty chocolate milkshake. I forget how beautiful Rye is and we really did take the time to enjoy the space and enjoy some child free time. 

We took a look around on google before our trip and found The ship inn, an historic pub in the heart of Rye, the celing in adorned with fairy lights and the beams are all on show, some of the decor is seems to be part of the old part of the pub like window frames and gates. I decided on sausage and mash and Liam went for a double cheese burger with added bacon. The food was tasty and well presented,the price was a little on the higher side but you that in a town like this with it being very touristy and historic.

After dinner we headed back to the hut for a fire outside and a glass of wine, the views from the outside area were stunning, we were next to a field full of sheep and a view down through the actual farm itself. It was peaceful and just what we needed, the only real noise was from the sheep talking to eachother. When the light faded we headed in to play some games privded in the hut, we played a few games of uno and tired out another.

The next morning we both woke up feeling refreshed and calm, we sat outside and enjoyed a cuppa together but sadly had to take breakfast inside as a wasp decided that it was his table. we enjoyed the sheep for a while before tidying the space to make sure it was ready for checkout. 

We honestly had the best time away and plan to try out another one of the huts for our anniversary next year.
