November recap | 2024 | Blogmas Day 1

Welcome to Blogmas, here I start with my November recap a couple of days late. With Blogmas I will be posting every other day, mostly festive content. November has been a long one, we have had so much going on behind the scenes and it has been mentally exhausting but this is the start of a new chapter.

So if you watch my YouTube you will know that we are moving, we have been working through all the preperation of moving through this whole month and it has been ridiculously stressful but it will be worth it in the end. I will so a seperate post on moving as I want to be able to look back at it myself. 

The first part of the month was quite quiet with just working and normal Mum life, we did take a trip to the park with Dad and Angie and had some yummy chips and a warming drink, the girls ran around and we fed the ducks too, it was just what we needed and I appreciate any time with my Dad.

The middle of the month has been full of sickness bugs and Olivis had her second bowt last week which was not the best, we rarely get bugs in this house but they are really doing there rounds right now. We did have a little snow inbetween the illnesses but it wasn't a lot, Lils managed a tiny snowman but that was about it. 

Me and Lils did have an afternoon out to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which was incredible, I really wasn't sure what to think when going in as I haven't really seen a traditional style musical before, I love a musical and this did not dissapoint, Lils absoloutly loved it too. 

All in all its not been the best month and its been rather quiet in ways but this month should be a great one.

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. I thought I would share our recipe with you which can easily be adapted if need be. Recipe 500g Beef Mince 1 carton of tomato passata  1 tbs tomato paste 1 beef stock cube 1 beef stock pot 1 tsp onion salt 1 tsp garlic granules 1 tsp mixed herbs 2 medium carrots sliced and part cooked Salt and pepper 3 large potatoes for mash 75g cheese Method 1. Burger seasoning recipe

With the weather warming up and the BBQ season well on its way, I wanted to share a recipe with you that is a firm favourite in our house, this recipe will help elevate you BBQ tastes with the yummiest burgers that have so much flavour.  Its such a simple seasoning to make and one that you will be able to store for future use too. 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Freshly ground black pepper 1 tbsp Paprika 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Onion powder 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper We add these herbs and spices into a pestel and mortar and given them a good mix together. When the time comes to make these tasty burgers just grab some 5%  mince and shape into burgers, we now have a burger press to make them more even, then when cooking sprinkle some of the seasoning onto the top side of the burger and flip, then repeat till both sides are covered evenly.  The summer holidays can be scary for some parents knowing that there budget doesn't stretch far, I try to keep to a strict budget so we don't go beyond our means, this means that some days are in with free activites and crafts. So here are some free/cheap ideas to keep you and the kids entertained over the holidays. Rock painting and hiding Lego building Pet pals workshop (Pets at home) Den making Baking ( Cookies , Cupcakes ) Cinema (kids club) National trust (vouchers are very useful) Beach/park  Summer reading challenge (local libraries) Scavenger hunt / nature hunt These are just a few things that we get up to in the summer holidays. I normally put these and more in an envelope and get the girls to pick something out when the day is slow or there bored. I really hope these help and would love to hear what you get up to as well.
