July was a busy one for us, from theatre trips, days out and even a little trip away for me and Liam.

July started with our first trip to the theatre, this was a pretty inpromptu trip as a friend offered a ticker for me to see 2:22 A ghost story and wow what a show it was. The next weekend was our second, and last show of the month was one mainly for Olivia but enjoyed by all of us, Bluey's big show. 

The next week was the lasy week of school, it been a hot tem and I was/am so ready for the rest. It was an emotional one leaving the children and moving to another year group but I am excited for the experience. Lilly took part in her sports day in the last week of term too and came home with 4 medals, a 1st in the 100m sprint and 2nd in three other events, she honestly smashed it.

The first week of the summer holidays brought mine and Liam's minimoon to life, a night away in a shepards hut not too far from where we live. We took a walk together, had a tasty milkshake and enjoyed dinner before going back to the hut for a fire in the fire pit next to a field of sheep, enjoying a glass of wine and some time together. 

We have been trying to make some memories in these holidays and have already watched a carnival, been to the fun fair and been rockpooling together, we have also had some peaceful home days which are well needed to relax and sort the house out. 

I am very grateful for July, it brought so many good things our way and I really enjoyed this month, I just wish it would cool down a little as its still so warm.

What will August bring us?

I have recently started making my own Cottage pie with a recipe that I have tweeted to work four our fussy family. I find that a cottage pie is such an Autumn/Winter staple as it feeling like such a warm, hearty meal, one that is a proper comfort meal.  I recently started making the meal and found that I didn't have a packet mix in so decided to find a recipe to try out, the first one I found sounded good but I changed it slightly to fit our family, Lils isn't keen on fresh onion ad none of us like celery. Wow! What a crazy full on month again and one that will stay with me forever. The month started off with our second house move of the year, it has been so stressful and crazy but we are in and the keys are handed back for the other house now so onwards and upwards.  Most of the month has been working, unpacking and Sorting and just being Mum but I have had a few days which have been incredible.  This month I got to attend an event and meet the wonderful Axel Scheffler, the illistrator of the Gruffalo, stickman and many more. He was lovely and we managed to get a book signed by him. I also got to meet Thomas Taylor, an author and illistrator who actually created the first cover for the Harry Potter books. It was such a lovely couple of hours and one I won't forget in a rush. Toad in the hole recipe

Toad in the hole is one of our favourite meals to have, especially in the colder months with a huge pile of mash, veg and gravy. We love to change this recipe up a little with just 2 different herbs, Onion granules and sage. Toad in the hole is a classic English dish, its great any time of the week and really doesn't take too much effort for a great homely meal. This recipe is also suitable for vegetarians with the change to a meat free sausage.  Recipe 4 - 6 Sausages of your choice 1-2 tbsp oil 140g plain flour 2 eggs 175ml semi skimmed milk 1 tsp sage 1 tsp onion granules salt and pepper Method 1. Heat your oven to 220oC/ gas mark 7 and place sausages in a roasting tin with oil, bake for 15 mins. 2. Meanwhile mix the flour and eggs together, slowly add the milk and herbs in. 3. Leave to stand until the sausages are starting to brown 4. Pour the batter into the tin and bake on the top shelf for 25 to 30 minutes. 5.
